Harlem Grown SUMMER CAMP
Harlem Grown’s Summer Camp is a seven-week program designed to engage and inspire children to explore the outdoors, become master gardeners, taste and create delicious recipes, and lead healthier lives.
Campers participate in daily farming activities, learning how to grow food from seed to harvest, and prepare and eat the fruits of their bounty. Campers explore nature, sustainability, and food through weekly themed activities, including cooking, fitness, arts and crafts, science experiments, service projects, and field trips. All produce grown by the campers is taken home to their families or given to other members of the community, free of charge.
Our 2017 summer day camp is for children aged 7 to 14. Our camp is free of charge for families who qualify for the free or reduced school lunch program, with sliding scale pricing for other families. Due to high demand, space is limited. Applications were due on April 15 to be entered into our lottery, which is now closed. If you would like to be added to our waitlist, a completed application can be mailed or delivered to our office at 127 West 127 Street, #201; New York, NY 10027. Families will be notified if their child receives a spot.
Camp applications have closed for 2017.
This summer, we are excited to present a new Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for youth ages 15 to 17 years old. CITs learn how to become a Summer Camp Counselor through this unique, hands-on training program. Trainees who complete the program will receive a $500 stipend. The application period for our CIT program is now closed.
CIT applications have closed for 2017.
